Have you ever heard of Paddington books? O.o So, have you? Because it's a great series. It's definitely a classic; the first book was written around 60 years ago and the newest one is from 2008 so it's not that old. These books are full of humour and give you a break from all those depressing novels about death and war and stuff. Well, anyway, the series doesn't have a main problem but instead it is about Paddington Brown the bear's adventures. Paddington, a small bear from Darkest Peru who is very fond of marmalade travels on a lifeboat to America where he meets Mr and Mrs Brown. They take him in and considers him as real family instead of a pet. Being a quite intelligent talking bear, he helps out by buying groceries, taking care of the garden and other small things that usually results in trouble.
The housemaid, Mrs Bird, is stern but kind, kind of like Professor McGonagall. Jonathan and Judy are the children of Mr and Mrs Brown. Together, they will go on trips that end in Paddington causing trouble but then all ends well. I always laugh every time I pick up a Paddington book and start reading.
Paddington and Mr Gruber are good friends and always have hot cocoa and buns for their usual elevenses and Mr Gruber would always lend Paddington books to help him prepare for upcoming trips. Mr Curry, however, was mean and selfish. He was very greedy and usually tricked Paddington into doing things that usually aren't really worth it. For example, he would call Paddington over from over the fence and ask him to help him do something easy for sixpence, and when Paddington agrees he would say something like "and when you're done, mow the lawn and pick all the apples for me too." and then he would retire to his house and leave Paddington speechless.
So, if you haven't already, try looking for some Paddington books, so far I've got A Bear Called Paddington, More About Paddington, Paddington Helps Out, Paddington at Large, Paddington Marches on and Paddington Takes the Air. But I still need Paddington Abroad, Paddington at Work, Paddington Goes to Town, Paddington on Top, Paddington Takes the Test, Paddington: Here and Now and Paddington Races Ahead .
Well, just wanted to say, PADDINGTON IS AWESOME. It's just as good as the Harry Potter books, maybe even better:O
